Walk for Psoriasis Cure
A Virtual Walk Success Story
In September a group of people in Oak Ridge, Tenn. decided they wanted to contribute to the National Psoriasis Foundation’s efforts to raise money to fund research to find a cure for psoriasis and psoriatic arthritis and eliminate their devastating effects. They decided to do a walk because it’s not only be a good way to get a lot of people involved, but it is also good exercise and a chance to raise awareness about psoriasis in the community.
Dermatologists, nurses and staff from 4 dermatology clinics worked together to encourage their patients to join them at the walk and to contribute to their fundraising efforts. Their goal was to raise $1500. On the day of the walk, rain and the flu outbreak did not put a damper on the event. At least 35 people walked through downtown Oak Ridge proudly displaying their “Walk for Psoriasis Cure” banner. What a success! The group had 56 people donate and in the end, raised $2,212, which was donated to the Psoriasis Foundation The walk ended at the office of Dermatology Associates where they celebrated their amazing fundraising success and fun walk with goodies donated by local businesses.
