"The hotel and staff were wonderfully accommodating and the Blue Lagoon tremendously relaxing. The hotel and surrounding countryside as well as the city of Reykjavik provided a myriad of opportunities for me and my family to relax."
Beth Conlin, Ann Arbor, Mich., won December 2008 and visited Blue Lagoon in May 2009.

"The trip to Iceland and the Blue Lagoon spa and clinic was an opportunity of a lifetime! My niece Katy Kneiser and I had a great time, from exploring and shopping in Reykjavík to seeing glaciers, waterfalls and geysers on a tour. The taxi ride from the airport to the clinic was an eye-opener. The landscape was nothing but "evil" lava, which is what the lava that surrounds the lagoon is called because “it is rough and difficult to cross due to its porous surface,” as I learned from http://www.bluelagoon.com/. It was strange at first because there were few trees. The staff at the clinic was great. Every night we soaked in the lagoon at the clinic for two hours. It was very soothing on the skin and to my knee and foot joints. One afternoon we went to the main Blue Lagoon for a massage while floating in the lagoon. That's a must-do!"
Jeff Zingg, San Francisco, Calif., won August 2008 and went in the Fall.

"We had a great time. The staff at the Blue Lagoon took great care of us. We swam every night—the silica really smoothes your skin! We discovered that the people in Iceland speak Icelandic, English and Dutch, and 98 percent of them speak all three languages! In fact, we never found anyone who didn't speak English. Icelanders are very friendly, and welcomed us everywhere we went. I really enjoyed the trip and would love to go again."
Vickie Dowling, San Diego, Calif., won October 2007, visited Blue Lagoon in May 2008.

“A wonderful incentive to participate in National Psoriasis Walk for Awareness events is the fantastic opportunity to win a weeklong, all-inclusive trip to the absolutely beautiful Blue Lagoon in Iceland. I can say from personal experience that it is a wonderfully healing, relaxing and gorgeous place. I was the lucky winner last year. I have memories and new friends from an unexpected new place. With all of your needs being provided, and the opportunity to swim and soak in the fabulous Lagoon made up of sea water and geothermal water, your worries, aches and flakes all seem to melt away. You can choose to stay the full week pampering yourself at the lagoon. Or you can or venture out and explore the local fishing town Grindavik, the capital city Reykjavik, the history of Leif Erikson and the Vikings, and all the beautiful sights of this wonderfully kept secret place of Iceland. The staff at the Blue Lagoon and the people of Iceland are beautifully genuine and friendly. The Blue Lagoon is a place like no other.”
Sue Jaqua, Portland, Ore., won July 2007 and visited Blue Lagoon in May 2008.

Evan and Sue Jaqua (winner), Clarissa Sessel, Sheila Murray, Vickie Dowling (winner) and Shahin Tavili met while visiting the Blue Lagoon. | "Upon arriving at the Blue Lagoon Clinic, we immediately went to the pool area and took our first soak. It was heavenly—with warm-water silica to scrub the patches on my body—and so serene! Our room was sparse but neat and clean. It had a small patio that looked out onto a lava field covered with moss, which, we learned, is typical of the area around the Blue Lagoon. We took several tours that gave us an appreciation for Icelandic life. One day we went into Reykjavik to explore. It is a beautiful city, which appeared to still be still under construction, judging from the number of cranes throughout the city. A highlight of the trip was meeting other guests, including another contest winner, Vickie Dowling from San Diego, who has become a friend. The clinic staff was friendly, and worked hard to make us comfortable. We were especially impressed when I came down with the flu the last two days of our visit. They helped Evan get medicine for me and provided support. We enjoyed our trip, and we thank the Foundation for the opportunity."
First winner Claire Wolf Smith, New York, N.Y., won May 2007, visited Blue Lagoon in May 2008.

| Claire Wolf Smith and son Nathan | "We felt incredibly lucky to win such a fantastic trip. Of course, we had questions. Would we be too cold? Would our 5-year-old son Nathan be bored? Would we like the food? We went at the end of May 2008 and it was a little colder than the U.S. The Blue Lagoon itself was warm—the water temperature gets up to about 100 degrees Fahrenheit, so it was like being in a hot tub. The whole place is gorgeous. The food was nutritious and tasty. The dining room, like everything at the Blue Lagoon, was modern and serene. At mealtimes we enjoyed meeting guests from all over the world. When the staff found out that Pete only eats meat that’s kosher, they made a special fish dish just for him at every meal. We were bowled over by their kindness, but the truth is, everyone we met in Iceland was really nice! Nathan had a great time. He made friends with two young Icelandic girls, sisters who were there for one sister’s treatment. Nathan enjoyed exploring Reykjavik even if he wasn’t happy about driving to town. He told us recently, “I really had a great time in Iceland and I really want to go back.” We all feel the same!"
